Hogs For Hoses X Bike Run

04/25/2011 – MVA – 7200 block of Noblestown Road

As the members of Oakdale Boro were preparing for their slumber, ole’ yeller sounded, and the men of Company 215 sprang from their beds for the reported motor vehicle crash into a pole. Members quickly responded to the station to man the Rescue led by Asst. Chief Mike Hartman.  In minutes the rescue was staffed and on their way to the 7200 block of Noblestown Road.  Upon arrival of the Rescue crew, 1 auto was found to be on its side with the occupant self extricated mingling among the bystanders.  The men of 215 House had their assignments and fulfilled them mitigating all hazards.

It appeared that the auto was traveling from the McDonald area and failed to negotiate a sweeping turn at Linden Lane. The vehicle then rode up the guide wire of the pole, flipped, spun around, and landed on the driver’s side facing the “wrong way”.  Rescue 209 was also on the assignment but was canceled by Asst. Chief Hartman when it was discovered that all occupants were out of the auto.

Oakdale Hose Company participates in training at Greater Pittsburgh Airport

Members of Station 215 , along with fellow firefighters from Stations 209 (N.Fayette) 152(Imperial) and 109 (Ben Avon) attended a drill on 4/13 at the ARFF training center at the Pittsburgh Airport. Following a tour of the facility, a slideshow was given on tactics used in aircraft firefighting. There was then a hands-on drill, with the guest companies feeding water to two of the County’s Crash trucks. Anyone who desired was able to get into one of the trucks and operate the front turrent of the vehicle. However, Chief 215′s request to drive one of the crash trucks was politely denied! This was the first of a series of drills with the departments surrounding the Airport.
