The Oakdale Hose Company is a 100% volunteer fire department. We provide 3 fire apparatus and over 30 firefighters for free 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All active fire fighters, those that respond to emergency calls, are required to pass the essentials of firefighting program provided by the State Fire Academies. 98% of our members are Vehicle Rescue Technicians Certified by the PA Dept. of Health. We also have members trained as Paramedics, EMT’s and First Responders to provide QRS for emergency medical calls within the Boro and surrounding communities. Our members spend hundreds of hours a year keeping their fire, rescue and EMS knowledge up to date.
In addition to the training we must keep up on, our members must also spend many more hours attending meeting, planning and working fundraisers as well as working and planning other community events.
It’s Important to know that there is no tax in Oakdale that provides money to the fire department. We depend 100% on fund raisers, donations and the subsidy we get from the borough and township of North Fayette.
